After watching the Lord of the Rings movies I was fuelled with inspiration to build the battle scenes and create the heroes in the Warcraft III game, I would spend hours customising the battle maps and scenarios fo winning. I found the forums so helpful for getting the animations and conditions just right. We didn’t have Lego set pieces or playsets to use when the films came out. So Warcraft battle map it was.
But with the rise in Lego collectibles and themed set pieces, now is the time for Lego Lord of the Rings collectibles to get their flowers.
There is something to be said about putting in the time and dedication to recreating battle scenes and set pieces from the Lord of the Rings films. The sets are so rich in detail and size that it would take weeks if not months of effort to recreate the scenes, but then for the ambitious why not recreate popular battle scenes like Helms Deep.
Let’s take a look at this monster set builds.
Recreating The Battle of Helms Deep in Lego
The length of the castle itself is quite remarkable to see in Lego. But when you smear it with 10,000 Uraki and the combined armies of Rohan and the Elves it is quite the spectacle to behold. This is a monster of a build and one that would of taken months. Just look at the details.
Battles are quite complex to get right when recreating scenes, you often switch back to view the film and then back to the building of the set. Always try to take as much care to stay true to the source material as possible.
You can really see the level of care in this build. The creator has included Lego hero characters of Lego Aragorn, Lego Gimli, Lego Legolas and other key characters from the scene.
The position of the Elven army is accurate and they even included the spike ladders used by the Uraki to climb the castle walls. Truly impressed by the level of detail in this build.
I take my hat off to you sir, this is fantastic. I hope this gets some form of official recognition from the film studio and is preserved for more people to see. What a build from a master Legi builder.
Recreating the Gondors City of Minas Tirith
I’ve seen several attempts to recreate the Gondor city of Minas Tirith in Lego but when I compare them to these miniature die-cast recreated versions of mankind’s greatest city I can’t. This is the better version. Complete with the mountain backdrop.
This recreated Minas Tirith collectible has high detail and includes some foreground and background detail. It’s one of the best ones I’ve come across. The city is unique because its s different to anything we have ever seen before.
Here is the model city built from the films, a lot bigger and with far more detail.
The movies were a huge hit and spawned hundreds of thousands of new products and games.
I’ll come back and update this post as I find newsworthy and share-worthy games, collectibles and products for this superstar franchise. I hope you enjoyed this post, please help me spread the word about TechGiant by sharing what you read.
