On a Mac, you can check and change user profiles through the System Preferences. User profiles on a Mac are typically referred to as user accounts. I like having multiple profiles for various things when browsing online.
A while back I was heavily into E-commerce and had every spy tool and automation tool stored on one of my dedicated Mac profiles. The reason was simple, in my personal profile I didn’t need 22 chrome extensions for spying on e-commerce stores or advertising marketplaces. The use case for me was to have a dedicated profile for my e-commerce businesses.
Here’s how to do it:
Checking User Profile (User Account) on a Mac:
- Click on the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen to open the Apple menu.
- Select “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu.
- In the System Preferences window, look for the “Users & Groups” icon. It looks like a silhouette of two people.
- Click on the “Users & Groups” icon. This will open the Users & Groups preferences pane.
- On the left side of the Users & Groups preferences pane, you’ll see a list of user accounts. Your current user account will be highlighted, and you can see basic information about it, such as the account picture and account name. To see more details, click the lock icon in the bottom left corner and enter your admin password.
- You can select any user account in the list to view and edit its information, such as full name, username, password, account picture, and more.
Here is an example of some mock user profiles for a work computer Mac Profile manager:
Changing User Profile (User Account) on a Mac:
To change the user profile (user account) information, follow these steps:
- In the Users & Groups preferences pane, make sure the lock icon in the bottom left corner is unlocked (if it’s locked, click it and enter your admin password).
- Select the user account you want to change from the list on the left.
- You can make various changes to the user account, including:
- Changing the user account password: Click the “Change Password” button.
- Changing the account picture: Click on the current account picture, and you can select a new picture from the options provided.
- Changing the account name or full name: Click the account name on the left and edit the details in the right pane.
- Make the desired changes and then click the lock icon again to lock the settings.
Please note that making changes to user accounts may require administrator privileges, and it’s important to exercise caution when modifying account settings. Ensure you have permission and a legitimate reason to change user profile information, and always remember your admin password to unlock these settings.
Managing your profiles doesn’t need to be complicated just keep it simple use a personal account, use a work account and maybe you share the computer with a family member and you can easily manage this right here in the top bar of your computer (MAC).
