Enter the grimdark universe of Space Marine 2, where stunning visuals, cinematic storytelling, and relentless combat forge an unforgettable, immersive experience. I was transported from first time player to being in the depths of the Warhammer 40,000 story.
“Absolutely brilliant gameplay and the perfect combat systems for first person shooter game”.
I could spend hours sniper shooting swarms out of the background scenes and yes you can shoot the enemies in the background. Give me a hell yea! Its a well crafted game with amazing visuals and very deep worlds to explore and engage with.

Story and Immersion:
The story pushes the legacy of Titus forward with cinematic weight. Set against a backdrop of endless war, the narrative explores duty, betrayal, and the cost of purity in a corrupt galaxy. Every cutscene feels earned, and each mission flows with emotional urgency. Combined with environmental storytelling and stunning design, Space Marine 2 pulls players into a universe where humanity’s survival hangs by a thread.
You really feel like you are in the world, these amazing worlds open up to you and you can shoot enemies in the sky and in the background giving the game a sense of depth. Theres a lot of moments when you are called to click the pay attention control and something big happens in the world. I thought this was awesome as you can stop just for a moment to see it happen.

Worlds and Visuals:
The worlds of Space Marine 2 are massive, grim, and drenched in atmosphere. From war-torn hive cities to xenos-infested wastelands, each environment is packed with detail and dread. Gothic architecture looms under blood-red skies, while distant battles rage across shattered skylines. Lighting, textures, and scale combine to make every frame feel like a piece of Imperial propaganda brought to life.
Ive not been into the story or the models and game before I was a Warhammer virgin, but within the halfway mark I was pretty immersed in the story and trying to learn more about the lore of the game. Im now considering if I need to give it another look and see what the models and game are all about. Well done to the team behind this game.

Your Playable Space Marine
You pick up the game playing as Lord Titus. The first mission is the basic get to know your controls objective. You are taken through a jungle world slowly being introduced to the combat systems.
I enjoyed the flexibility to shoot the enemy or chainsaw them in half with my chainsaw sword. You can also do executions when enemies are weakened that are very graphic ways for you to rip the enemy apart. Titus is a old fashioned guy trying to do right in the universe. Hes a little gruff and likes a good straight up fight. You would not want your marine any other way.
Your Space Marine Squad
The core squad in Space Marine 2 grounds the chaos with brotherhood and grit. Each member—hardened, distinct, and lethal—brings personality to the battlefield without breaking the immersion. Dialogue is sharp, unforced, and reflective of decades of war. Whether holding the line or diving into the fray, the squad moves and fights like a seasoned unit forged by fire and bound by unshakable loyalty.
1. Lieutenant Titus
- Role: Main protagonist
- Traits: Stoic, disciplined, and burdened by past events. Demoted after the first game, Titus returns with a darker edge and a deeper understanding of the Imperium’s fragility. He’s a tactical leader and elite warrior, loyal to the Emperor but scarred by betrayal.
2. Brother Chairon
- Role: Heavy weapons specialist
- Traits: Aggressive, gruff, and fiercely loyal. Chairon brings raw firepower to the squad with an unwavering devotion to eradicating the xenos. He has a no-nonsense demeanor and a battlefield presence that commands respect.
3. Brother Gadriel
- Role: Support/assault hybrid
- Traits: Calm, methodical, and quietly intense. Gadriel often serves as a voice of balance between Titus and Chairon. His combat style blends precision with speed, and his dialogue hints at a reflective nature beneath the armor.

Gameplay & Combat Style
Space Marine 2 delivers tight, responsive gameplay that blends third-person shooting with brutal melee mechanics. Each encounter forces players to balance aggression with survival, rewarding precision and timing over button-mashing. Chainswords tear through hordes of Tyranids with visceral impact, while bolters hit with bone-rattling weight. The combat system feels heavy, fast, and ruthlessly satisfying.

Weapons:
Weapons in Space Marine 2 feel devastating and precise. Boltguns kick with thunderous recoil, flamers engulf enemies in righteous fire, and power swords cut through armor like parchment. Each weapon has weight, sound, and purpose—tailored for specific threats. The arsenal expands with progression, encouraging experimentation and tactical execution rather than brute force alone.
Its a lot of fun switching weapons and stocking ammo. There are plenty of caches of weapons and ammunition around the map. But my advice is to stock up when ever you can and always grab the medical stimms when available. Enemies come at you thick and fast and there’s always one sneaky bastard that lands a sneak attack from out of nowhere.

Side Missions & Quests
Once you complete the main story arc there is options to continue playing the game in different ways.
After completing the campaign, Space Marine 2 opens up replayable content through co-op multiplayer, Operations Mode, and potential PvP skirmishes. Players can join three-player co-op missions that extend the lore and deliver high-intensity combat scenarios. Operations Mode allows progression of alternate loadouts and class-based roles, encouraging tactical synergy. Additionally, challenge modes and new seasonal content (post-launch) are expected to introduce fresh objectives, cosmetic unlocks, and evolving threats. The battlefield never sleeps—and neither do the Ultramarines.
You also have the ability to kit your space amrine how ever you see fit, you can customise the load out and the armour I believe just like in the model building part of the real world gameplay.
There is a lot of DLC for this game and I haven’t dived into any DLC yet but I can see why you would want to acquire more options. When the big dawgs like Lord Calgar come in his armour is a complete drip magnet and you want that swagger for your marine character.

The Enemy
Enemy Factions and Traits:
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 unleashes waves of terrifying enemies, led by the relentless Tyranid swarm. These bio-engineered horrors overwhelm with numbers, speed, and alien ferocity. Each strain—from spine-launching Termagants to hulking Carnifexes—requires different tactics and weapon choices. Their hive mind coordination makes every encounter feel like a war of attrition.
Chaos forces also make their presence known, corrupting both flesh and machinery with dark sorcery and warped firepower. Their unpredictability, cruel resilience, and arcane abilities stand in brutal contrast to the raw aggression of the Tyranids.

Weapons and Powers (Enemies)
Tyranids rely on organic weapons: bone swords, acid spitters, and explosive sacs. They fight with instinctual precision, swarming in coordinated waves. Chaos factions wield corrupted Imperial tech, psychic blasts, and daemon-infused weapons. Their attacks combine brute strength with madness, forcing players to adapt quickly or die violently.
My advice embrace the swarm of the Tyranid get to predict their swarm points and behaviours. You should be able to work out where they will spawn and what they will do once they have spawned pretty quickly.

The Final Boss Battle Endgame
The final boss battle in Space Marine 2 is a climactic test of endurance, precision, and emotional payoff. Facing a grotesque Tyranid Hive Tyrant enhanced by Chaos corruption, the fight blends cinematic spectacle with unforgiving mechanics. The arena shifts mid-battle, forcing players to adapt to environmental hazards, relentless adds, and devastating ranged and melee phases. Titus must confront both the physical threat and echoes of his past, making the showdown as psychological as it is explosive. Victory feels earned—not handed—delivering a finale worthy of the Emperor’s finest.

List of Bosses in Warhammer 40,000 Space marine II
Boss 1: Carnifex
Boss 2: Lictor
Boss 3: Carnifex
Boss 4: Neurothorpe
Boss 5: Carnifex
Boss 6: Imurah
Boss 7: Helbrute
The Last Stand – not really a boss but it is one hell of a fight
Boss 8: Helbrute
Final Boss: Imurah
The final mission, Dawn’s Descent, delivers a climactic showdown that tests everything the player has learned. Imurah, the Chaos leader orchestrating the invasion of Avarax, makes his last stand within a corrupted Adeptus Mechanicus facility. As Project Aurora nears activation, Titus and the Ultramarines must confront both Imurah and a colossal, birdlike warp creature twisted by Chaos. The fight unfolds in brutal, multi-phase combat that demands precision, timing, and adaptation. Each stage introduces new attack patterns, environmental hazards, and devastating combos. Victory only comes through mastering both enemies’ rhythms.
The final cutscene closes the chapter with a grim but powerful aftermath that echoes the cost of resistance in the 41st millennium.
This guy was tough as he teleports and strikes, I also forgot how to dodge and parry in between gameplays and living my actual life lol. There are some attacks that you just can not block. he is an asshole to put it bluntly. He kicked my ass.
My Game Review Verdict: 9/10
I really enjoyed this game from start to finish and I will keep playing the side quests and PVP modes.
It gave me everything I was looking for in a first person shooter game, I wanted a squad, I wanted violence and an unrelenting wave of enemies to smoke and I wanted to explore space worlds in battle armour I basically got what I was looking for.
The game retailed for $69 at Traget (Australia) I purchased a PS5 standard version.
Load time from disc insert to mission time was 25 minutes.
I give props to Warhamer 40,000, Focus Entertainment and Saber this game was awesome.
