When a zombie infestation threatens our existence, everyone must play a part in the fight for survival. The roles individuals assume can make the difference between life and death, and ultimately, the rebirth of society. We have all seen the movies and the people who play vital roles and those are basically human shields.
I’ve thought about this many times and planned, replanned and put up my strategy of how Id help against the fight if there was a zombie infestation taking place. This is wild weird and potentially going to happen so I want to make sure I’m ready to go when the pin drops.
What Roles Will We Need To Defend Infestation Attacks?
Not everyone will be fighting frontline there’s going to be a need for a lot of types of role players who may never eve see a zombie. But there will also need to be a lot of front-line defenders and people who patch them up when they fall down. Let’s look at the roles we will need if this ever becomes a reality.
Frontline Defenders
The first line of defense against the undead will be the Frontline Defenders. This group includes fighters and marksmen skilled in combat and defense tactics. They will be responsible for keeping the zombies at bay, patrolling the perimeter, and executing strategic offensives to reduce the undead population.
What weapons would work well against the zombies? we don’t actually know apart from what we have seen in movies.
What I think would be helpful against
- Flamethrowers
- Swords
- Pikes
- Machine guns
- C4 Bombs and landmines
- Picket Fences, tripwires and general obstacles that prevent forward movement
Medical Experts
Medical Experts are crucial in a world riddled with injury and infection. This role is not only about treating wounds but also about researching the zombie virus and developing a cure or vaccines. Their knowledge is vital to prevent the spread of infection within the community.
We have no idea what would work if this scenario actually happened as our entire knowledge is banked on what Hollywood has shown us in movies. People will die while our medical people figure out what works and what doesn’t to treat injured soldiers.
Supply Runners
In a post-apocalyptic world, resources are limited. Supply Runners take significant risks to scavenge for food, medicine, and other essentials. They are the agile and stealthy individuals who know how to navigate a zombie-infested landscape to retrieve necessary supplies. Who knows if we will still have cars and planes, we may need to go back to horse and cart transport, I actually think E Scooters might be the transport mode that would work for these roles.
We would have to be prepared for this and map out supply lines as it happens. This will be critical in staying supplied and staffed up at various battle fronts. Bullets will run out, media packs will run and food will become scarce. The runners will be the unsung heroes of the front line. Keeping our defense supplied.
Engineers and Mechanics
To ensure that the shelter remains safe and operational, Engineers and Mechanics are essential. They maintain the integrity of the shelter, keep vehicles and generators running, and innovate with limited resources to ensure sustainability.
I would see some of the engineers breaking off and trying to fix any mechanical plants and factories that they can access to help with whatever supplies, manufacturing or production that they can get operational in the battle against the zombies.
Survival Instructors
Knowledge of survival skills is not innate. Survival Instructors train others in essential skills such as identifying edible plants, purifying water, and setting traps. They are the educators keeping survival knowledge alive and relevant.
We want Bear Grylls and Ant Middleton directing troops and runners on the basics of survival. Give the people a chance should they lose all their weapons and get stuck outside of any perimeter fencing or battle encampments. The more people we can prepare to stay alive regardless of the situation the better. Not everyone in the fight against the zombies is going to be able to cope with the situation at hand.
Community Coordinators
Community Coordinators keep the group functioning as a cohesive unit. They manage supplies, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts. This role is about maintaining order and morale in stressful environments.
Rebuilding the Human Race
As the immediate threat diminishes, the focus shifts from survival to rebuilding. We would have lost information and knowledge of how the world works but not the desire to push on and survive. But we need people to play roles regardless of the skillset and knowledge they will need to take the mantle and run with it for the human race to survive.
Governance and Leadership
Post-infestation, Governance and Leadership will be critical. New laws and community structures will need to be established to create order and a sense of normalcy. Leaders will emerge to guide the reconstruction of society and to make pivotal decisions for the community.
Depending on how many of us are left at the end we may need to divide up lands and appoint regional governors to oversee the land and operations. This takes a special type of person and skillset.
Agricultural Specialists
Probably the most important people we will need. The key things we need will be clean drinking water, foods be that meat fruit or veg we will have to have a sustainable supply of food. We may or may not have the factories for mass food production but we may not have the resources to manage the production lines.
To sustain a growing population, Agricultural Specialists will be vital. They will lead in the cultivation of crops and breeding of livestock to provide food security. They’ll also innovate in farming techniques suitable for the new world.
Educators and Archivists
Educators and Archivists will be responsible for preserving human knowledge and passing it on to future generations. They will rebuild the educational system and safeguard the history of the human race, ensuring that the lessons of the past are not forgotten.
I see this being quite important as we would of beaten back the attack but may not of destroyed the threat. Learning the strengths and weaknesses of our enemies will be best served across the human race.
Builders and Craftsmen
Finally, Builders and Craftsmen will reconstruct the infrastructure needed for a functioning society. From homes to roads to communal spaces, they will be the backbone of physical reconstruction, shaping the world from the ruins up. A lot of the world knowledge for how things are built will be lost, the internet may be down and we need to start from scratch with little information but our builders will be the ones that resurrect the civilization.
In the battle against a zombie infestation, every role is a piece of a larger puzzle. Whether it’s fighting on the front lines or laying the foundation for future generations, each person’s contribution is critical to the survival and eventual thriving of the human race.
