Looking back I can’t imagine not having a space dedicated to my fitness. But as you grow older you start putting up some non-negotiables even with yourself. Mine is that I need a space I can zone out, put some music one and clang together heavy bits of steel. The home gym is sacred ground for me.
I didn’t really have a home gym space for workouts until around 2013, up until then I had a warehouse for one of my businesses and just used a backroom to store all the gym gear. Dont mind the nude calendar in the pic I had an office full of young testosterone-filled boys and this gym got an absolute workout every week.
My old home gym was pretty well laid out with all the basic needs for a home gym. I had ample room in the garage of the house I was living in and had a long driveway for sprints to supplement any cardio workouts.

During the COVID pandemic sadly we had to move out of the above place as the owner was forced to sell after losing their job. This was a sad moment as my wife and I loved that house and the location, it was pure blissful living.
I looked to get out of the city and find some space so I moved about 45 minutes out of the city and picked up a place that had a bit of land. The place we bought had 2 sheds on it, 1 was more of a storage unit than a shed it was a bit crummy but the other was a monster shed. See pic below for what I mean. The guy who owned it had a model train setup in there that took up the whole space. I had never seen anything like that before.
